As you might remember, the night before Halloween I was in a panic, in need of a graphic for House's PPTH ID badge for Koda's costume.  You guys came through for me; [profile] hithaheven sent a scan of House's dosimeter!  I'm so grateful for all the enthusiastic assistance, and I'm sorry for the delay in posting the pics; I'd intended to get them up yesterday--but I spent yesterday morning at the dentist, and the remainder of the day wishing I was sleeping, and--when I was lucky--actually sleeping.

Koda's costume was the hit of the party, and then later, at Walgreen's, we wound up being there an extra hour because everyone there wanted to admire him--and baby!House ate it up!!!  Several people told us it was the best Halloween costume they'd ever seen!  Unfortunately, the pictures don't even begin to do him justice, as--for some reason--they show his hair and stubble as much darker than it was; the grays and silvers and paler browns weren't picked up at all.  You'll have to take my word for it that it in fact looked very much like House's in color (if not in length; oh well).

Koda told me afterwards that it was the best Halloween--and the best family birthday--he'd ever had.  So again, my thanks to all for your assistance in making this happen!!

As usual--click to enlarge:

Oh, wow! I mean -- I had no idea it would be THAT cool! The makeup job is amazing, and so is Koda's acting!

Wow. Oh, this is too wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing.

and we both had a ball! 'twas a wonderful evening, and yeah--turns out the kid is very much a method actor; he kept the house persona intact all night, and told me he wishes he could be house, because "it's fun being miserable, mom!" sigh.....

Nah, kid, it's fun acting miserable. Being miserable is a whole other ball o' wax.

He'll sort it out eventually. Hee.

The other thing is, though, that House ... isn't as miserable as people think. He enjoys many things about life.

Those are fantastic! He has the slouch and the stare down perfectly, and the costume and make-up are amazingly accurate.

i do wish the paler browns and grays had shown up in the pics; my own personal opinion is that in some of these he more resembles a tiny terrorist... hee. and he does a damned fine imitation of house even when not in costume; we tend to argue about that little 'personality quirk' of his.....

Great job, you guys! I can just see him palming some Tic-Tacs! Hee.

Great photos, Ko looks amazing and the makeup job is great. It really seems like he's enjoying the party immensely and had a great time. His impersonation looks like he's got the part down pat.

Koda looks great! He makes a wonderful Dr. House. Glad you both had a fun time. My son was Spider-man for Halloween and believe me he can put the real Spider-man to shame when it come to climbing walls. My daughter has a thing for Orlando Bloom so she had to be a pirate this year.

sounds like you had a blast as well! koda originally wanted to go as a vampire, but since it was a church function [and the word 'halloween' wasn't used once], i had to explain that... uh... perhaps a mythical, blood-sucking, ungodly creature wasn't exactly a great idea... [unless he'd wanted to go as an emotional vampire--then he could've been wilson instead! ;) ].

My church encourages "Biblical costumes" for their Halloween substitution night. (They also avoid the "Halloween" word.) I always wonder how in the world one manages a Biblical costume. A robe, maybe some fabric covering for the head, and sandals and you could be.... anyone! I guess it's the props that make or break a Biblical costume...

If Koda ever DOES go with a vampire costume for any other event, pattern it after RSL's vampire movie. Koda will definitely look the part! :)

biblical costumes.... when ko was attending st. peter's catholic school for kindergarten, the costume request was that the children dress as saints. koda was st. joseph, he of the 'staff of flowers.' so i put silk flowers on my cane. i don't sew, so i made the entire costume with the iron and bonding tape!! hee.

Well...the seven year old insisted on being a pirate. She was all gung ho about the trick or treating experience. The four year old (who is almost five) was reluctant to approach anyone's front door, especially if they had any sort of decorations there. After about ten houses, she asked if we were done yet.

Adolescent boys are not exactly known for liking to have their picture taken. My kids are used to being constantly photographed because I'm a photographer.

I think the glowering works.

THAT IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!

The makeup is fantastic! Makes him look older and the stubble is amazing!

Love the little flame cane! Did he have the limp down too?

Koda's expressions are perfect!

You guys rock!

Question: What did you use in his hair? I've been trying to find something to use on my doll's hair to grey up the sides a bit.

of course he has the limp down--he's been watching me limp on a cane, in that very same way [i, too, tend to stride, as i resent the hell outta the cane] for over five years! :) the flame cane is available here (http://www.fashionablecanes.com/3451.html).

the silver/gray part of the hair--baby powder first, then over that, jerome russell's B-wild!!! hair and body glitter spray in silver, and then, to make it permanent until washing, schwarzkopf's got2b glued blasting freeze spray, all available at walgreen's in the 'hair care' aisle.

glad you liked!

Oh, thank you for the photos! You two did a fantastic job! As everyone before me has said, the makeup and hair job is outstanding. And I love all the places you picked for photo-ops, especially the handicapped parking and the employees-only door. (The helmet-as-prop deserves a mention too! Gotta love the attention to detail you two put into this.)

I'm so glad you both had a great time. Despite his Housian scowl, Koda looks like he's really enjoying himself.

(I love the clip/holder for the dosimeter! Did you happen to have a dosimeter holder of the right size kicking around somewhere, or how did you make that?)

Thanks so much for sharing the photos. Well done, both of you!

actually, the helmet is koda's own, for his atv--and it's a complete coincidence that it looks very much like house's bike! i put the print-out of the dosimeter into the same sort of badge holder that i put the ID in. we have a laser printer, so printouts don't smear, so i used a gluestick over the pic, front and back, before putting it in the holder. then i let it dry, and just cut around the pic. and voila!--a dosimeter badge!! i had so much fun doing all of this; bet you can't tell! ;) and thanks again for all your help!!!

I love all the details (motorhelmet, Handicapped Parking-sign, cane - however did you get a cane with flames, did you do those yourself??). Thanks so much for sharing!!

thanks; doing everything was a blast; neither of us could've possibly enjoyed ourselves more!! the cane is the real deal, the same cane, from the same company that supplies all of house's canes for the show. it also happens to be the company from which i order my own canes, so when i saw the flame cane, koda just had to have it! it's available right here (http://www.fashionablecanes.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=Dr-Gregory-House-Walking-Canes).

Yeah, I can see you both enjoyed yourself, and it must have been rewarding that it all came out so perfectly!! Thanks for the link for the cane, it's a pity it's not adjustable in size and way too big for me, otherwise I might have ordered it - would be fun to use a cane just like House's instead of a boring one!

didn't realize you're on a cane as well! and didn't you see, they'll make it any length you like; the flame graphics are applied after they shorten the cane to the proper length! koda's is only 29", in fact.
